Sorree, guise. This is frum the final scene in “Siegfried,” teh third opera in Richard Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen. (halfbeast wuz rite). It’z “Das Rheingold,” Die Walkuere,” “Siegfried,” and “Goetterdaemmerung.” (The Rhinegold, The Valkyrie, Siegfried and Twilight of the Gods.)
Bruennhilde iz the byootiful and brave warrior-goddess, daughter of Wotan (chief god). She has disobeyed her father, and although he loves her dearly, he MUST punish her. (has to do with his godly duties). So he kisses her on the forehead (to take away her godhood) and puts her to sleep on the top of a high mountain, and surrounds her by protective fire. Only the bravest hero will be able to find her. (That’s the end of The Valkyrie).
“Siegfried” takes place about 19 years later. It begins - well - telling us about Siegfried, whose destiny is supposed to save the gods from the power of the Ring. (long involved story). His adventures take him to many places - he slays a dragon - and (ewww) licks the dragon’s blood from his finger - BUT this is magic and now he can understand what birds are saying! A nice little forest bird comes along and tells Siegfried (who is now 18 and is longing for love) where he can find the most beautiful and worthy bride in the world.
He goes - (he also does not know fear) - gets through the fire. Finds Bruennhilde - kisses her on the lips and she begins to wake up. (She’s been on this mountain for some 19 years now.) The first thing she does is raise her arm(s) to the sun to greet its heavenly rays.
Hence -” Hail to you, sun.” She hasn’t yet seen Siegfried (who is, of course, VERREE handsome - much like the Young Nekkid Guy in the Nawty Barn, who duz the irining and serves the martoonees.
Be warned. The cycle does NOT have a happy ending. Pretty much everybody dies.
And to be fair, most of them deserve it.

Wehn ai wuz in collej, in our Mewsik litreachur class we studied Teh Ring and Schubert’s “Der Doppelgaenger” cloase enuf togedder to bee awn the same test.
An wun ov mai roomaytes - akshullee - a don’t remember teh queschun - but her anser wuz “Doppelgammerbung.” Ai am nawt maeking taht up!!!! ‘Twas menee menee yeers ago, but it stil maeks mee laff! Teecher sayed he wud luff to giv her an “A” fur taht, becuz wuz so creatif - but cud nawt!!!

There ar menee funneh thingz in teh Ring if nawt dun veree carefullee indeed. A couple of yeers ago ai saw teh Ring in Seattle. Teh Bruennhilde wuz Jane Eaglen. (Ai don’t like her - voice big, yes, but sorta blah - an she cannawt akt her way aut ov a paper bag).
So there yoo have Bruennhilde, big as a regrigerator. An the Sieglinde (gud voice, but also reelee chunkee). An teh two ov them awn poor Grane, galloping as fast as hee can throo teh air to the Valkrie Rock. An shortlee after tehy have landed (much liek Bunway Air, ai think), wun of teh Valkyries comes out and announces “Grane ist zusammengebrochen.” (Grane has collapsed, fur the non-Jerman speekerz). There wuz audible laffter in teh audience!! Ai did, too!!
